This course is designed to provide you with the knowledge and technical skills to plan, observe and enter a confined space complying with the confined space standard. It will also cover gas testing to ensure a safe atmosphere exist, as well as practical implementation of the three types of emergency rescue procedures, gas testing and confined space entry (various scenarios).
KEY LEARNING OUTCOMES:
At the completion of the course, you will be able to:
- Identify legal responsibilities when planning a confined space entry and complete the required documentation for a confined space entry – Permits, JSA, TA, SWMS
- Identify hazards and controls within confined spaces
- Develop an emergency procedure plan for a confined space and conduct confined space recues
- Provide definition and examples of confined spaces, categories and risks within confined spaces
- Demonstrate knowledge of monitoring and confined space testing requirements
- Describe the responsibilities and duties of people entering; or conducting observation duties for a confined space (safety observers)
- Demonstrate knowledge of atmospheric testing in potentially hazardous environments to ensure a suitable atmosphere exists to work safely
- Conduct gas tests, and interpret and respond to gas test results, in an energy and chemical plant.
