This course is for participants who have completed their PHEC course and need to keep it current. Two days shorter than the full course.

KEY LEARNING OUTCOMES:

At the completion of the course, you will be able to:

• assess and manage the scene of an emergency situation;
• perform a primary survey to identify any life threats;
• perform a secondary survey;
• demonstrate and apply knowledge of safe patient moving and lifting techniques without injury to self, patient or others;
• demonstrate and apply knowledge of devices and/or techniques to manage patients in an emergency situation;
• monitor patients and provide information in an emergency situation;
• recognise signs of stress in self and apply appropriate strategies to mitigate effects; and
• demonstrate and apply knowledge of requirements relating to patient information and documenting events.

Prerequisites

• A current PBEC (PHEC) certification OR an expired full PHEC certification within three months from the expiry date
• Numeracy and Literacy: All students must have the ability to write, speak and understand basic English to complete the assessments.
• Students must be 16 years or older to attend this course
• Students must be able to kneel on the floor to perform CPR, advanced airway management and must be physically capable of assisting with a casualty lift. If you have students with physical limitations, please contact us to discuss.
