This advanced course is designed for those responsible for managing, storing, using, disposing of, and handling hazardous substances in a workplace. Course content includes the use of signage, inventory, tracking, and managing adverse effects of hazardous substances.
KEY LEARNING OUTCOMES:
At the completion of the course, you will be able to:
- Demonstrate knowledge of classifying hazardous substances.
- Demonstrate knowledge of the potential adverse effects of hazardous substances on the body and environment, types of exposure monitoring, and treatment options.
- Interpret health and safety information for safe handling, storage, and disposal of a hazardous substance.
- Demonstrate knowledge of safe storage, tracking requirements, handling, and disposal of hazardous substances.
- Explain and understand the concepts of multiple causation and root-cause analysis.
- Learn about the purpose of a hazard register and its advantages in managing risks.
- Understand legislative requirements on incidents and accidents—barriers to reporting near-miss incidents and how to overcome them.
- Describe and demonstrate the response to the uncontrolled release of hazardous substances.
