The course "Height Safety Advanced Course" has finished

This course is designed to help you gain in dept knowledge of the legislative requirements while working at heights. Practical scenario’s will guide you through the selection of the correct type of height safety systems and the use of relevant knots and fall arrest devices. This course also includes an active rescue scenario where the team set up an anchor points and use their knowledge to rescue the worker at height.  

KEY LEARNING OUTCOMES:

​At the completion of the course, you will be able to:

  • Explain the legislative requirements and systems used for working at heights
  • Demonstrate knowledge of hazards associated with wearing a safety harness and associated equipment
  • Demonstrate knowledge of safety harnesses and associated systems and equipment
  • Identify anchor points and prepare to install a temporary proprietary height safety system.
  • Install horizontal and vertical temporary proprietary height safety systems.
  • Assess hazards associated with system installation and develop a suitable work method to ensure safety.
  • Use temporary proprietary height safety systems.
  • Disestablish temporary proprietary height safety systems.
  • Check and fit a safety harness for working at height
  • Identify the common types of height safety equipment used in the workplace
  • Identify suitable height work equipment and suitable anchor points for fall restraint and arrest systems
  • Identify anchor points and prepare to install a temporary proprietary height safety systems
  • Use a safety harness system where a fall hazard exists at height
  • Install and disestablish horizontal and vertical temporary proprietary height safety systems
  • Demonstrate knowledge of the rescue plan to be activated in the event of a fall
  • Use height safety equipment and plan rescue techniques and emergency procedures for working at height to safely retrieve a worker trapped within a height safety system
  • Identify suitable anchor points for fall arrest and restraint systems.
  • Plan rescue techniques and emergency procedures for working at height in the workplace

Numeracy and Literacy: All students must have the ability to write, speak and understand basic English to complete the assessments. less
